Maruti Swift, Ignis & Micro SUV S-Presso Score A Poor 1-Star Rating In GNCAP

Maruti Swift, Ignis & Micro SUV S-Presso Score A Poor 1-Star Rating In GNCAP-

Maruti Suzuki India ke products have yet again disappointed with the safety crash test results, this time Maruti Suzuki Swift, Ignis and S-Presso teeno hee mass market and indeed very popular cars ne achieve kiya hain 1-star crash rating in the Global Ncap. The Maruti Suzuki Swift achieved one star for adult and one star for child occupant protection. The Maruti Suzuki S-Presso and Ignis both scored only one star for adult occupant protection and zero stars for child occupant protection.

Maruti Ignis

Maruti Swift, Ignis And S-Presso Global NCAP Crash Test Report-

The three Maruti Suzuki models, the Swift, S-Presso and Ignis, were tested in their basic safety specification with two frontal airbags and ABS. Teeno mein se kisi bhi car mein ESC or side curtain airbags as a standard or optional safety equipment offer nahi kiye jaate. Swift, Ignis and S-Presso ke structures ki agar baat kare toh, result mein yeh dekha gaya that all three models demonstrated unstable structures during frontal crash testing.

Maruti Swift

According to the updated protocols of the Global NCAP, abb GNCAP assess karta hain frontal and side impact protection for all the car models and kuch ussi prakar Maruti Swift, Ignis and S-Presso ke bhi yeh tests kiye gaye. Electronic stability control, pedestrian protection and side impact pole protection assessments ki bhi abb zarurat hoti hain for vehicles to score the highest star ratings.

Maruti Suzuki India ki cars ke iss safety performance par Saul Billingsley, Executive Director of FIA Foundation ka kehna kuch iss prakar tha:

“The failure of all three tested Maruti Suzuki models to achieve a safe rating showcases a disregard for the safety of Indian drivers, passengers and road users alike. The #SaferCarsForIndia campaign has shown how quickly manufacturers can adapt to meet Global NCAP’s safety standards and it is time for Maruti Suzuki to learn from other regional manufacturers like Mahindra.”

Maruti S-Presso

Maruti Swift ka frontal impact test mein protection offered to the driver’s and co-driver’s head and neck proved to be good, whereas Driver ki chest ke liye protection weak prove hui and co-driver ki chest protection prove hui to be adequate. Side impact mein head, abdomen and pelvis protection was good and chest protection was poor. Side pole impact test nahi kiya gaya Swift ka as the car does not have side head protection even as optional.

Child occupant protection mein child dummy ke head ko good protection offer hui but chest area ko marginal protection. Maruti Swift mein ISOFIX child seat mounts and top tether anchorages on offer hain in the 2 outboard rear seats but does not offer 3-point seat belts in all seating positions. The passenger airbag cannot be disconected in the case of a CRS intalled in the front passenger position.

Now coming on to Maruti Ignis, frontal impact test mein driver and co-driver ke head and neck area ko good protection mila. Whereas chest area mein driver ke liye weak protection prove hui and co-driver ke liye adequate. Side impact test mein head protection was weak and chest protection was poor. Abdomen protection was adequate and pelvis protection was good. Door opening modifier was applied due to risk of ejection of rear occupants. Side pole impact: was not performed as the car does not have side head protection even as optional.

Child occupant protection mein, frontal impact test ke liye MSIL refused to recomend CRS for the test therefore dynamic points were not awarded. The child seat for the 3 year old was installed forward facing using the ISOFIX anchorages and a support leg and it was able to prevent head exposure during the frontal impact. Just like Maruti Swift, Ignis mein bhi 3-point seat belts offer nahi kari jaati in all positions ISOFIX and top tether anchorages are standard in the 2 outboard rear seats. .

Lastly, Maruti S-Presso ki agar baat kare toh, adult occupant protection in the frontal impact test mein kuch similar results dekhne ko mile Ignis jaise. Although, yaha par Driver ka chest area showed poor protection leading to a one star capping and passenger’s chest showed marginal protection. Side impact test mein Maruti S-Presso adult dummies ke chest and head areas ko mili marginal protection while abdomen and pelvis protection was good. Side pole impact test just like the Swift and Ignis iss gaadi par bhi perform nahi kiya gaya.

Child occupant protection criteria mein, S-Presso ke liye bhi MSIL refused to recomend CRS for the test therefore dynamic points were not awarded. The child seat for the 3 year old was installed forward facing using the adult seatbelt and it was not able to prevent head forward excusrion over the allowed limits during the frontal impact. Side impact mein dono hee CRS’s ne offer kari full protection. Again, S-Presso mein bhi 3-point seat belts offer nahi kari jaati in any of the seating positions. The car does not offer the possibility to disconnect the passenger airbag in case a rearward facing CRS will be installed in this position.
