Tata Motors have officially announced the commencement of bookings for their upcoming mass market electric vehicle for the Indian market. It is going to be the new Tata Punch EV jo kind of reveal bhi kardi gayi hain before the official debut. Tata Punch EV is holds the potential to be the next mass market affordable electric vehicle which is based on a specifically created EV platform, and not just replacing the ICE with an electric motor and battery setup.
With the introduction of Tata Punch EV, Tata Motors apna in house developed first pure EV architecture bhi introduce kar raha hain. According to the brand, it is the new “acti.ev” platform which can accommodate a front wheel drive, rear wheel drive and even an all wheel drive electric car drivetrain. We will further get to know more about this platform once Tata Motors officially launches the Punch EV.

Tata Punch EV from the looks of it looks the same like the ICE Punch, but there are minor updates/changes that have been done to make it look and functional like an electric car. Front fascia gets the new design language element of connected LED DRLs with headlamps placed beneath. Yeh new design language recently launched Tata Harrier and Safari mein bhi dekhi jaa sakti hain.
There is no front grille as such but lower bumper par slats diye gaye hain for air ventilation mostly to keep the electric motor cool while on the run. We have not yet come across the rear profile or the side profile the Tata Punch EV but we are expecting it to get elements inspired from its bigger SUV siblings for the rear profile whereas the side silhouette should remain the same.
A lot more than the front fascia has been revealed about this upcoming EV. Starting from the variants jo on offer honge toh woh hain, Punch EV long range and Punch EV with standard range. The long range variants gets the following trim levels: Empowered+ (with or without sunroof), Empowered (with or without sunroof) and Adventure (with or without sunroof). Furthermore Tata Motors is offering two types of charging infra for the customers to choose from jo hain: 7.2 kW fast home charger and 3.3 kW wall box charger
Now comes the Tata Punch EV standard range variant which gets the following trims: Empowered+ (with or without sunroof), Empowered (with or without sunroof), Adventure (with or without sunroof), Smart+ (with or without sunroof) and Smart (with or without sunroof). Charging ke liye iss variant mein only 3.3 kW wall box charger on offer hoga from the OEM.
Coming on to the list of features jo offer kiye jayenge respective Punch EV ke variants mein toh woh hain kuch iss prakar (according to trim levels):
Smart: LED headlamps, smart digital LED DRLs, multi mode regen, ESP and 6 airbags etc.
Adventure (in addition to features of Smart): Cruise control, front fog lamps with cornering, 7-inch Infotainment system by Harman, Android Auto and Apple CarPlay, EPB with autohold (only long range), jeweled control knob (only long range), sunroof option available etc.
Empowered (in addition to features of adventures): R16 diamond cut alloy wheels, air purifier with AQI display, auto fold ORVMs, 7-inch digital instrument cluster, SOS function, 10-inch touchscreen infotainment by Harman, sunroof option available, dual tone body colour etc.
Empowered+ (in addition to features of empowered): Leatherette seats, 360-degree camera surround view system, blind spot view monitor, ventilated front seats, Arcade.ev- app suite, wireless smartphone charger, 10.25-inch digital instrument cluster etc.
