Recently we witnessed the launch of Honda Amaze 2024 the Gen 3 model. It was much awaited upgrade but is it actually a upgrade we wished for? We got a chance to experience the Amaze in Goa for a while and here’s our 2 cents on it.
Honda Amaze 2024: Price
First of all lets talk about its pricing and variants. The all new Honda Amaze comes in three variants V, VX and ZX. All three of them can be opted with either MT or CVT gear box options. The pricing is as follows.
Honda Amaze 2024: Good Things
Space:
The Honda Amaze 2024 comes with an enhanced in cabin space and boot space. We get the segment best 416 L of big boot space in which we can easily store 4-5 full size bags. Also, Rear seat space is redefined. We get a bigger head clearance, larger leg room as well.
Engine & Fuel Efficiency:
The Honda Amaze 2024 offers best in segment engine output. It comes with a 1.2L i-VTEC 4 cylinder 1199 cc engine which produces power of 90 PS at 6000 RPM and 110NM of torque at 4800 RPM. Pretty decent numbers here. Whilst the competitors have now opted for a 3 cylinder engine.
As per Honda, the Amaze would be able to fetch 19.46 KM/L of fuel efficiency with its CVT gear box and approx 18.65 KM/L with the Manual gear box. Although these are the numbers on paper we can expect in and around the same efficiency with this vehicle.
ADAS:
The Honda Amaze 2024 comes equipped with ADAS Level 2. It is the same Camera based Honda Sensing technology which we have seen before in Honda Cars. The performance of the ADAS is quite good. All the expected features such as Lane Keep Assist, Lead Vehicle Departure Warning, Collision Mitigation Braking System, Adaptive Cruise Control and Auto High Beam.
Other Safety Features:
The Honda Amaze 2024 comes with a loads of other safety features which not only enhances the safety but also, contributes in the ride comfort. It has got the minimum turning radius of 4.7m. The segment best 172m ground clearance which gives you confidence to move on any type of roads.
Other features like Lane watch camera, Vehicle Stability Assist, Hill Start Assist, Emergency Stop Signal, Rear Parking Sensor, and Rear Seat Reminder is also available in the Amaze. It has not gone through any global NCAP testing yet but Honda has conducted some in house testing and they say the car is pretty safe.
Features:
There are good features which is offered by Honda Amaze 2024 such as there are request sensors on both driver and co-passenger side which makes it easy to get in. There is a dedicated button for lane watch camera, also a lot of physical buttons for AC and controlling infotainment system, which is kind of very convenient.
You also get auto headlamps and the buttons is defaulted to auto you can toggle it to off forcibly but then again when the vehicle is restarted it is switched to auto mode, which is a very good things for a first time driver. Honda Amaze 2024 also offers wireless charger, wireless android-auto/apple carplay.
Honda Amaze 2024: Bad/Missing Things
This section I’d not call the bad things but some of the features which I expected to be there and are offered by the competitors which Honda missed with the new Amaze. These are mostly basic requirements which would not have costed much to add, but Honda chose not to.
- 360 Camera: It has already got 2 cameras adding two more to make a surround view would be better option.
- Front parking Sensors: Usually Amaze is the first car for Indian users and having front parking sensors is a good thing for first time drivers.
- Turning Guidelines with Reverse Camera: Same thing, if its a first time driver turning guidelines is an important thing to have.
- Rear seat Armrest has no strap to open it: The rear seat armrest is a bit difficult to open, as there is no strap to access it, also it rests on the seat which is kind of not cool.
- There is No USB ports on the rear seat: There is only a 12V charging socket on the rear seat.
- There are no Coat hooks.
- The centre light is in halogen and is placed in the middle.
- There is only 1 magazine holder.
- The buttons doesn’t come with illuminations.
- There is no Type C port in the car either in front or rear.
- Soft touch material is missing everywhere its hard plastic.
- Screen is a little less bright and produces glare which makes it difficult to read during sunshine.
- There is no Arm rest for the driver.
- Glove box doesn’t have cooling nor any light in it.
- The seats comes with Fabric options only which feels kind of old.
- The colour of the fabric seat gives a feeling of old/used vehicle and is soiled easily.
- No auto-dimming IRVM
- There is a single washer in the front to throw water on wind-shield.
- There is no option for a sunroof.
- Non-adjustable headrest for rear passengers.
