Skoda To Launch A New Sub 4 Meter SUV In India Based On MQB Platform-
Skoda Auto India has been successful lately after the launch of its first mid-size SUV Kushaq last year. Kushaq has garnered decent amount of bookings and recently only Skoda ne apni new mid-size sedan bhi launch kari Indian market mein which is the Skoda Slavia.
Yeh dono hee cars brand ke India specific platform par develop kari gayi cars hain with over 90% localisation of parts. But since the market for sub-4-meter SUVs has been very busy and kaafi saare brands ne iss segment ko target kiya hain looking at the popularity toh abb Skoda Auto India is also planning to launch its offering in the sub-compact SUV segment.
New Skoda ki sub-compact SUV bhi completely based hogi on the MQB AO IN platform with over 90% localisation. And it has been confirmed by brand’s CEO Mr. Thomas Schaefer that next Skoda vehicle for the Indian market would be highly localised and based on MQB AO IN platform with an overall length to be kept under 4-meter.

Skoda ki yeh upcoming India-specific sub-compact SUV India mein manufacture toh kari hee jayegi but it will be exported to other global markets as well. And not only this, but Skoda Auto is also developing a small electric SUV for the Indian market jo manufacture kari jayegi in India itself.
Apart from this Skoda Auto ne India 2.0 project ke liye over one billion euro ka investment kiya hain for the India specific MQB AO IN platform with high localisation. But now they have plans under the new India 2.5 project jiske under yeh new sub-compact SUV ko India mein introduce kiya jayega.
Skoda ka yeh India 2.5 project is expected to begin by January 2025 and 2025 mein hee new sub-compact SUV launch kardi jayegi. We can expect an all electric affordable SUV too from the brand for masses for our Indian market. Skoda ke CEO, Mr. Thomas Schaefer ne further kaha:
“We now have a good plan and will see where this goes. The cornerstone for this is to have total control of the platform because that’s where all the cost is and that’s when we can make it happen or not.
This is why we worked so hard to get control of the platform MQB A0 global. By working together with our other regions like South America, Africa, Russia and India, it will be the scale we need to get out of the platform to make it feasible in the sub-4m segment. It’s on the cards, the team is almost there. We need more localisation, but as usual we will bring this home. The MQB A0 IN platform is ready for this.”
