TVS X created a buzz in the electric scooter market when it was unveiled back in late August. We got a chance to ride it for around 100 kms, and we are going to talk all about the riding quality of the new scooter, efficiency and features. Also, if this is a value for money buy or not? This will also includes the specifications, service cost and every other detail you would want to know about all new TVS X.
TVS X – Design:
Let’s start by talking about the design of all new TVS X, it is inspired by the TVS XLETON platform. To be honest it really offers you with a sporty premium look. The red black design with a hint of blue color does exhibits a premium quality product. The material used is also of high quality. All in all there is no complaint in terms of design you’d be really happy with the looks of the scooter.
It has an expansive 10.2″ panoramic TFT display which offers a huge level of new tech, which we would dedicate a whole section to later in this article. Also, the console is tilt-able which y0u can adjust as per your viewing angle. Since, it is a LCD display it doesn’t have great viewing angles. To make the display more durable LCD has to be used as it is now water resistant, has a glass covering which protects it from normal scratches, small accidents or even light hailstorms. To resolve this viewing angle problem TVS has make the display on TVS X tilt-able so that you can adjust it as per your convenience. Smart move there!
Next in the line of design we should talk about the aerodynamics on the TVS X. The motor inside the TVS X is ram air cooled as the scooter provides harmonious aerodynamic profile it facilitates proper air-flow between the vents and as soon as you increase the speed more air is passed through the motor making it easier to cool down during heavy performance.
Now let’s talk about the all new signature LED setup. TVS is calling it TVS LED Tech 2.0, which really impressed me a lot. The LED headlights are completely customisable and offers a lot of lighting signatures which you can choose from. On start up the TVS X welcomes you with a LED Lighting signature which gives you a sense of luxury. You can customise the light animation along with the sound.
The turn indicators are also animated and are all LED. The indicators are animated in the direction of the turn you’re taking. But when you turn on the hazard lamp all static orange sharp throws are given so that it can be viewed easily even from a long distance. TVS X also comes with cornering lights, while taking turns during night it is sometimes really hard to view just below the vehicle. The cornering light solves this problem completely. The lights will turn on in the direction in which you tilt the scooter.
Also, it comes with adjustable brake bars. Some users might have longer fingers and some might have shorter. TVS got you covered there it has adjustable brake bars which you can adjust according to you finger/hand size.
TVS X – Specifications:
TVS X – Features
Sharing of the scooters is very common in India, with TVS X you can also share it, na na not by giving your keys to someone. TVS X doesn’t even have a physical key. You can unlock the scooter in 4 ways, through your mobile, your smartwatch, your password or a metal credit card sized key. Just tap the card and you’re good to go.
In terms of sharing the vehicle you can create upto 5 profiles for your frequent sharers. Each profile would have its own customised Home Screen, favourite locations even ride history as well. As an owner you can also control the top speed for each profile and fetch the live location of the vehicle at any given time. You can also have list of favourite contacts different for each profile.
It also has tire pressure monitoring system installed in it, you can view the tire pressure anytime on the instrument cluster.
TVS X – Ride Quality
In terms of ride quality the TVS X offers a premium ride quality. The telescopic suspension in the front and the Mono-shock in the rear does its job real good. But it’s hard to comment on it as we didn’t get to ride it on a rough road. As far as normal road condition goes TVS X perform decently. Seat comfort is also nice for both rider and pillion, seats have nice cushioning which is pretty decent for a short city ride.
Acceleration is decent in comparison to other electric scooters, the top speed is claimed to be 105 km/h but while testing we got it upto 112 km/h. There are three modes to ride TVS X Xstride, XStealth and Xonic latter being the fastest. Adjustable brakes and instrument cluster makes it more easy to ride. Also, feature loaded instrument cluster is the cherry on the cake.
You can charge it using a fast charger as well as normal charger. Fast charger will give you 50% of battery in 50 mins although full charge would take around 2h40m. Normal charger would take 4.5 hrs to give you a 100% range.
TVS X – Instrument Cluster
TVS X has a feature loaded instrument cluster, you can do almost everything using the instrument cluster as you can do with you smartphone. While in the parking mode you can use YouTube, scroll through your IG reels or FB videos. Also, you can use maps very efficiently. It also has option to mark your favourite locations or even download offline maps for any given two states at a time.
The Instrument cluster also offers a pre-loaded music library which you can listen to while riding. It has basic sounds like wind blowing, forests, river flowing, birds chirping etc. You can also play games like fruit ninja while in parking mode. Also you can customise the Home Screen with whatever information you’d like to have. Such as weather, traffic information or what not.
TVS X – Pricing and Range
TVS claims that the TVS X would run around 140 Kms on a single charge, that’s a pretty normal number, with this price I’d expect a little more. Also, this range you’d get if you use your scooter in Xstride mode, higher modes would deteriorate the range. If we talk about the price it would cost you a whopping 2.49 lakhs ex-showroom to own this vehicle. Although, the first 1000 customers would get a Garmin smartwatch free with it which cost around 25k.
All in all its pretty nice thrillectric scooter with heavy performance and very nice looks. Also, the aerodynamics are really good for a scooter which would solve the heating issues. Instrument cluster and features are top notch, I’d have expected nothing more in terms of that. The price point is a little hard to digest but the premium quality of the product justifies the price.
